Logo Design Trends 2017

If you're looking to start the new year with a new logo for your business, whether you're just starting out or looking to update an asset you've had for years, then these seven trends for logo design in 2017 might be worth a look.

It's very difficult to design an entirely new logo or something never seen before. More likely it will take influence from the essence of the company and what's on-trend in design generally, and more specifically logos. Staying in the know is key.

Some brands choose to hold their ground and stick it out with the logo they've had for a number of years, while others choose to evolve and adapt theirs year on year to 'stay current'.

Design agency Dubai Monsters have put together a great graphic to illustrate the trends for this year, which you'll find here. But these are the key parts:

  1. Minimalism will still reign
  2. Line art logos will continue to be popular
  3. Negative space will become the 'clever' thing to have
  4. You'll still see handwritten font styles
  5. Vintage design will hold on for another year at least
  6. Last year, many moved away from skeuomorphic to flat logos. Coincidence?
  7. More designers will choose a kinetic logo to convey brand values

But, when all is said and drawn, effective logo design will always be effective. Make sure it is recognisable, relevant and communicative to your audience and you're on to a winner.
