Networking with added spark

Yesterday, I attended the first Acumen Business Club networking meeting. We were told to wear casual clothes, walking shoes and meet at a pub in the heart of Sussex.

Slightly apprehensive, thirty business leaders arrived where we were warmly greeted by Acumen's M.D. Penina Shepherd and driven to a secret woodland location.

After walking for half a mile, we arrived in the woods and were greeted by three inspirational gents aiming to teach us the art of bushcraft. In small groups, we learnt about the key principles of how to make fire (Bear Grylls style), woodcraft and how to harvest natural fibre.

It was a fantastic alternative to traditional networking events. It really enabled us to form deeper and meaningful connections, rather than worrying about stature, status and elevator pitches.

I'm already looking forward to the next mystery event!.
