Mimicked and used as inspiration continuously since, some class the posters as works of art; just goes to show the cult that surrounds them.

Long Read: Design Trends of 2018 (So Far)

Taking a trip down memory lane

As a creative agency, we get asked to design a vast array of things. Some projects are pretty much set in stone with the design brief, while others give us a little more freedom. With briefs these, we can get a little more creative. Generally, we draw inspiration from everyday items - a film we saw last week, posters in the street, magazines, web articles, talks, exhibitions, the list goes on. And, of course, the biggest trends of the year. 2018 is no different.

So we’re (over) halfway through the year and in terms of design, plenty of trends have popped up. Many have leaned towards distorting an image or video, rather than perfecting it. Others call for recycling old patterns and styles, while some incorporate the growing world of technology and expand the limits it can achieve. So, while sifting through all the trends we’ve encountered (and used) in 2018 so far, we decided it’s probably best to give you a rundown of all the best ones to have arrived this year.
